Hello! I'm a Southern European who has recently arrived in Korea and I've been staying here for a few months due to work. I'm curious about the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday and how it is celebrated culturally and modernly. My colleagues say it's like Christmas in Europe, spent quietly with family. As a foreigner, is there anything fun or special I can do? I currently reside in Dongtan and haven't had the chance to visit Seoul yet. However, I'm considering exploring other areas this time. Since Seoul is easily accessible on weekends~ Also, do the Chinese community in Seoul celebrate their own New Year? If anyone knows, please let me know~ Thank you!
