Can foreigners own stocks in Korea?

Hello! It's been about a year since I came to Korea, and I'm currently living in Itaewon while looking for a job. I'm applying to work at Korean companies, and I've heard that many big companies offer stock options. So, I'm curious if I, as a U.S. citizen, can also own stocks in Korea. Does anyone have a similar experience? I want to know if foreigners can own Korean stocks and what the process is like. I've tried looking into it, but there's so much information that it's confusing ㅠㅠ I've also heard that opening a stock account is not easy, so I'm worried. I would really appreciate any advice!
