I'm curious about how to get close to Koreans in the United States!

Hello! I am a middle-aged woman currently studying Korean in the United States, particularly in Texas. I want to learn about Korean culture and hope to visit Korea someday, but right now I would like to make Korean friends locally. However, due to work, it's difficult for me to attend classes on time, and the nearby Korean language meetups are too far away. I found out through Google Maps that there are a few Korean churches in the area, so I visited one church. There, I introduced myself to a pastor and expressed my desire to learn Korean. He recommended a nearby Korean language school, but it didn't fit my schedule either. He also mentioned that he would pass my information to the church members, but I haven't heard back yet. I even asked the owner of the local donut shop how I could make Korean friends, but I haven't had much success. I wonder if it's because of my language skills being lacking or if it's due to cultural differences. Is there any other approach or advice you might have?
