How should I Koreanize my name when applying for university in Korea?

I am really excited to be accepted into Dongguk University in the fall of 2026. However, I entered my name as it appears on my passport during the application process, but I’ve been told that the name on my student ID needs to be written in Korean. They say I need to include part of my official name, but I’m not sure what that means.
I’m worried that my name, which is French and has a complex pronunciation and spelling, might look strange when translated into Korean.
I’m contemplating which part of my name to include on the student ID. I’m also afraid that the Korean translation might turn out odd. Should I just write my official name and let the school handle the translation, or would it be better for me to translate it myself? Or would it be wiser to choose a Korean name instead? I would appreciate your advice.
