How often do new Chinese character words and new words appear?

How often are new Sino-Korean based buzzwords created in Korean? Recently, I saw the word '핵무기' (nuclear weapons), and was surprised to learn that this word came from the Chinese characters 核武器. I thought nuclear weapons were a relatively new concept, so it was interesting to see that the word was created by combining the old Sino-Korean characters for 'nuclear' and 'weapons'. In Korea, there are many cases where English words are directly borrowed, so I am curious why Sino-Korean characters were used in this case. I would like to know if new Sino-Korean based buzzwords are still being created, or if this practice stopped a long time ago. If it is not uncommon for new buzzwords to be born from combinations of Sino-Korean characters, I would like to know in what situations this happens. Could you please share any information related to this?
