One of the aspects that foreign friends learning Korean often wonder about is idiomatic expressions. Using idioms naturally in everyday conversation can make your Korean skills appear very impressive. Here are a few useful idioms.
First, there is the expression '작심삼일'. It refers to the situation where someone makes a big resolution at the beginning of the year but gives up within a few days. Koreans use this expression very frequently.
Another example is '일석이조', which means achieving two good results with one action. It is similar to the English expression 'Kill two birds with one stone'.
There is also the idiom '새옹지마', which conveys the idea that even if the current situation seems bad, it can ultimately lead to a good outcome. It teaches us that we cannot easily determine the results of any event in life.
Which idiom are you more curious about? It will help enhance your understanding of Korean culture.
